If Steve Bartman is a Sox fan and that happens to the Sox instead of the Cubs, does Bartman die that night in Boston? Legit question.
Rob
Not that night. Whitey and the boys let shit die down, then all of a sudden people would stop hearing from him. Musta fled to North Dakota to hang with Buckner..
Actually, that's not true. We embrace our pain. It is as much a part of us as our exaltation.
C.
No doubt about that. I admire it.
R.
We would do specials every year on all the reasons not to blame Bartman. Not that he wouldn't initially be run out of town like Billy Buck.
C.
Well it's obvious that the (Cubs) shortstop (Alex Gonzalez) lost the game for them. Cubs fans were just blinded by fury and probably have a little less perspective than Sox fans.
R.
Hundred percent correct. Cubs fans seek out any opportunity to perpetuate their glorified limbo. Goats and Bartmans and whatever comes next. Only Dan Shaughnessy ever thought we were cursed. The rest of us simply knew that one day This Year would be Next Year.
C.
Beautifully put.
The Rays beat the Yankees 5-3 to move 1/2 game ahead of the Sox, who are still playing the Orioles at Camden Yards.
C.
Your move.
R.
If we both win out is there a playoff game?
C.
Yes. And it's in Tampa. Which means you have home field advantage :-/
R.
Welcome to Fenway south.
To be continued...
